Our Celebrities are the guide dogs that provide faithful service to the blind and visually impaired, as well as the puppies raised for that purpose. They are companions in the very best sense of the word, and they are the reason for Tee-Off for Dogs. We also celebrate the individuals and their families who raise and train the puppies on behalf of GDB.

Cardinal

Cardinal

As a quick learner in snowy Salt Lake City, 18 months was all I needed to begin my career in sunny OC. Each morning, my stubborn partner Frank and I debate the controversial issue of walking or taking the bus. Frank wants to walk, but I would rather take the bus because I need to save my strength to play with every one at my office. My favorite food is ice cubes and I think life would be better if I didn’t have to ride in a golf cart.

Norwalk

Norwalk

I’m full of fun and frolic whether hot or cold
You can call me Norwalk and I am 3 years old.
Daddy never leaves me home, I’m better than a cane
When you see us walking, talk to him and he will explain.
I’m working, and even though I like treats like popcorn and ice
When you see my halter, my mind is on him, he follows my advice.
Where to step and when to stop, you guessed it, I’ve become his sight
We are now best of friends and Daddy lets me share his bed at night.
Since I’ve come into his home he is no longer sad
He depends on me and takes care of me, I really love my Dad.

Mathers

mathers

Hello!
As you can see I am a Golden Retriever, and my name is Mathers. I am 10 months old and being raised by Gail Hardy of L.A. Southwest Guide Dog Raisers.
I am special in a lot of ways, of course, but I came to Los Angeles from New York where my mother, Lumina, lives at Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Also, my father, Lee, is from the Royal Dutch Guide Dog Foundation in The Netherlands. So I am truly an international phenomenon, wouldn't you agree?
Thank you for supporting Guide Dogs for the Blind by playing golf with Frank at this wonderful Tee Off for the Dogs tournament. Have fun today!
Tail wags and licks,
Mathers

Lewis

Lewis

Lewis is a male golden retriever who is just about ready to go back to Guide Dogs for the Blind for his formal training. He has been busy in the community this past year doing community outreach and education. He has been seen at Disneyland, various churches and schools. He loves going shopping, especially at Lowes. He was just a cute little pup at the 2008 Tee-Off for Dogs, and today he is a handsome mature adult dog ready for the challenge of guide work. Be sure to say hello to him and wish him luck while you are out on the golf course at the Tee-Off for Dogs tournament.

Neeley

Neeley

My name is Neeley, and I am part of the "BAARK" Brea Area Adult Raiser Klub for puppy raising.
I'm living with the Casanova family because of what happened last year. Anthony (one of my raisers) was playing golf at Coyote Hills Golf Course the same day as the 2008 TOFD tournament and noticed Guide Dog puppies-in-training, Puppy Raisers. Knowing that his wife and daughter had expressed interest in becoming puppy raisers, he brought home information. That is how the Casanova family got started as puppy raisers.
If you think I look sad, it is because I've just been told I can't go riding in the golf cart, which I sometimes get to do at Fullerton High School with the security people. I am so glad you are supporting us today, and I promise to do my best to become a Guide Dog for the Blind!

Hugs and licks from Neeley!

Ivory

I am Ivory even though my coat does not match my name. I am the 5th dog to be raised by Elaine. She takes me everywhere; the beauty shop, doctor appointments, and church. I can’t believe there are so many places to go. I will be leaving in June to start training.

Mobley

My name is Mobley. I cannot be at Tee-Off for Dogs this year because I am at Guide School with my friend, Fontina. I am in phase 9 out of 10! I am in the accelerated program and almost a Guide Dog. The Meinert family always knew that I enjoyed working. I will miss them, but this is a great job

Butterscotch

Butterscotch was raised in Placentia, CA, by a visually impaired girl, Laura, who eventually received her as her guide dog. Butterscotch retired this year due to allergies to grass, trees, cats and people.

Glitz

Hi! I am Glitz. I love being a Guide Dog! The Monsees are a great family to be raised by. I enjoy going to school and working in the library with my Raiser, Joyce, and attending their boys’ sporting events.

June

June

June is a 10 month old yellow lab female who is being co-raised by the Samp & Featherstone families. June is nicknamed Marley and most days lives up to that name.

Delora

Delora

I am Delora, one of the new pups in BAARK. I am excited to attend my first Tee off for the Dogs Golf Tournament with my Raisers Jack and Kathy. I can’t wait to start learning and going to places like the bigger dogs.

Fontina

Fontina

I am Fontina. I am at Guide School, with my friend Mobley on a Breeder Evaluation. My Raiser, Kasey, is on pins and needles waiting to hear if I have been chosen. You never know one of you might raise one of my pups!

Santos (aka Sirius Black)

Santos

Santo was raised here in southern California and passed all his training but unfortunately he was career-changed because he loved other dogs too much and wouldn’t behave around them. Now he lives happily with his puppy raisers under his new name “Sirius Black”.

Jacob

Jacob

Jacob was raised here in Orange County and wanted to be a guide dog very much. Unfortunately, his joints were not tip top and he became a terrific pet here in Yorba Linda.
